Parkinson's (Parkinson's Disease, Parkinsonism -plus Syndromes). Symptoms
What are the symptoms of Parkinsonism plus Syndromes?
The essential (primary) features of all Parkinsonism-plus syndromes (also known as Parkinsonism, Parkinosoid or Pseudo Parkinsonism) are a poverty and slowness of movement. Here we may differentiate between three components:
-
Slowness of movement or of initiating movement or bradykinesia,
-
Decreased range of bodily movement (e.g. increasing shortening of the steps = micrography) and decrease in spontaneous movements (swinging arms while walking, gestures, reduced degree of facial expression (hyomimia), (expressionless "stone face") or hypokinesia
-
Inhibition in initiating movement of akinesia. In clinical language these three terms are often used interchangeably.
