Foot Surgery. Ankle Surgery. Our Treatment Concepts
Interdisciplinary Team with a high degree of Specialisation
To be able to stand on your feet and walk well again. This is the aim of all our treatment strategies.
Patient care comes from an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists and orthopaedic technicians. We treat our patients with the latest diagnostic and rehabilitative techniques. It is our aim to bring patients with acute and chronic diseases of the foot and ankle joint back to their former level of activity as quickly as possible. Moreover our doctors are specialised in fitting artificial joints, rheumatic surgery on feet and ankles and the condition diabetic foot. By using the latest operation technology, such as minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery or transplantation of cartilage cells, we ensure the very best quality in treatment.

Outpatient or inpatient treatment?
Outpatient or inpatient treatment are both an option and the decision is made as to which treatment procedure in close consultation with the referring physicians and anaesthetists. The aim is always to reduce to a minimum any possible risks, for instance because of already existing diseases, and to ensure treatment success.
Conservative therapy
Insoles, shoe finish, orthopaedic shoe, bandages and ortheses are the classic areas of conservative treatment on the foot and ankle. Among other things this includes measurement of pressure distribution on the foot, which allows precise planning and implementation of treatment strategies. Moreover conservative treatment options have improved considerably for the condition diabetic foot. Great progress has also been made in treating bone oedemas. In addition to treatment with medication on an outpatient basis, the clinical picture can frequently be improved by treatment with infusions so that an operation is unnecessary.
Surgical Spectrum
Our surgical spectrum covers corrections to toe malpositions, complex reconstruction surgery on injured ligaments, tendons and cartilage, through to artificial ankle joints. Of increasing importance are diseases of the foot and ankle joint related to diabetes mellitus and chronic polyarthritis. Even for complex problems, which just a few years ago would have meant an amputation, there are now techniques available thanks to the very latest stabilisation procedures, bone growth factors through to stem cell transplants, which in many cases make it possible to save the foot. But there have also been developments in the treatment of sports injuries. Many operations today can be done using arthroscopy using what is called keyhole technology. A few years ago huge steps were still needed to do this. The focus with fractures to the foot and ankle joint is on the exact "anatomical" reconstitution of the joint surface. Our surgeons have many technically sophisticated stabilisation procedures available to do this, which among other things has the advantage that because of the great tensile strength of the implants, in most cases plaster is not required.
Follow-up treatment and Rehabilitation
Follow-up treatment is carried out in close cooperation with physiotherapists and physicians carrying on the treatment. The clinic provides the option of outpatient rehabilitation. Specially trained physiotherapists are also available if need be for our patients in the foot and ankle area. Subsequent inpatient follow-up rehabilitation takes place in close cooperation with our sister clinic in Berchtesgaden or one of the nearby rehab clinics.
