Growing from the roots of the District Hospital in 1993, Schön Klinik Neustadt now provides basic, routine and emergency medical care for the Ostholstein region. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, surgery and trauma surgery, spinal surgery, internal medicine, hand, breast and plastic surgery, anaesthesia and intensive care medicine, neurology and clinical neurophysiology, diagnostic and interventional radiology as well as orthopaedic rehabilitation. The hospital treats patients from all over Germany as well as Europe and beyond. Since 2003, the hospital has been an academic teaching hospital affiliated to the University of Lübeck. Schön Klinik Neustadt has 330 acute and 195 rehabilitation beds.
