Follow-up rehabilitation
Restoring functionality and independence
Follow-up rehabilitation takes place immediately after a hospital stay and is aimed at stabilising the outcome of acute treatment and restoring patient functionality and independence.
Follow-up rehabilitation at the Schön Klinik Harthausen fulfils this transitional function between hospital treatment and rehabilitation therapy. Rehabilitation can already be started during the immediate postoperative phase because the Schön Klinik Harthausen provides an effective combination of an acute and follow-up rehabilitation clinic. In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, the principal benefit of this arrangement is patient care provided by a team of specialist doctors and therapists with the highest levels of training and qualifications.
Follow-up rehabilitation after orthopaedic interventions
Especially after endoprosthetic hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery, intensive rehabilitation is advisable in order to achieve full functional stability in the new joint. Rehabilitation is an effective treatment for pain and mobility deficits resulting from prior arthritis, which will often have persisted over an extended period of time. The goal is to restore extensive functionality in order to cope with everyday stresses and job requirements. During your follow-up rehabilitation, the doctors at the rehabilitation clinic will ensure close collaboration with the surgeons and the doctors who previously treated you at the clinic.
Follow-up rehabilitation after trauma surgery and sports medicine interventions
After trauma, bone fractures or severe muscle and tendon injuries, the goal of the surgeon is to restore, as far as is possible, the injured part of the body to its original anatomical form. The goal of the subsequent rehabilitation phase is to ensure that the joint, muscles and tendons are functional. Postoperative pain symptoms must be treated effectively in order to achieve a satisfactory rehabilitation outcome and restore functionality.
Follow-up rehabilitation after spinal surgery
Intensive rehabilitation is always advisable after microsurgery on damaged discs, minimally invasive decompression for spinal canal stenosis and surgical treatment of vertebral fractures, after dynamic or static stabilisation surgery, or after artificial disc replacement. The purpose of rehabilitation in these cases is to achive lasting pain relief and restore back strength. Combining spinal surgery and spinal rehabilitation within one department is particularly beneficial in terms of achieving a rapid and comprehensive recovery.
Of course, patients from other spinal surgery clinics also benefit from the special expertise in spinal rehabilitation that we offer.
Follow-up rehabilitation after orthopaedic treatment of pain
Many spinal disorders can be treated effectively with conservative pain therapy. In many cases, rehabilitation care is indicated after inpatient orthopaedic pain therapy in order to ensure lasting positive effects from the treatment. Rehabilitation significantly expands on the physical treatment and physiotherapy already performed alongside the semi-invasive spinal infiltration techniques as part of an inpatient pain therapy regimen. Here too, our patients benefit from a combination of the orthopaedic pain therapy performed in the hospital and the immediate continuation of treatment in rehabilitation.
