TIP: Elfriede-Lohse-Wächtler Garden - A garden with history
The rose garden within our hospital grounds not only invites us to stay a while on summer days - it also reminds us about a bit of history: The "Elfriede-Lohse-Wächtler Garden" is dedicated to the painter and illustrator Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler (1899 –1940), who was a patient in Eilbek for seven weeks in 1929. Characterised by her own suffering and and sympathy, she drew portraits of her fellow patients ("Friedrichsberger Heads"). In 1940, Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler became a victim of euthanasia in Pirma. You will find the garden in our inner courtyard - it is open to all.
