Endoprosthetics
In the field of endoprosthetics, joint replacement operations are performed on the entire musculoskeletal system. Close cooperation between the clinic for anaesthesiology and intensive medicine ensures that, in addition to straightforward initial operations on the hip and knee joints, more serious replacement techniques can be safely carried out.
The range of services covers:
- Individually adjusted endoprostheses
- Joint replacement operations with the help of computer-aided navigation systems
- Surface replacement operations (on younger hip patients)
- Use of endoprostheses to treat bone fractures near the joints
- Use of minimally invasive operating techniques
General Orthopaedics
General orthopaedics covers all available standard surgical procedures:
- Joint preserving operation on the musculoskeletal system (corrective osteotomies, leg axis corrections)
- Cartilage treatment
- Bone / cartilage transplantation
- Cartilage cell transplantation following biotechnological cartilage cell cultivation in the laboratory (biological reinstatement of the impaired joint functions)
- Minimally invasive surgical methods for forefoot deformities (Hallux valgus, spread foot)
A standard at the orthopaedic clinic is our own bone bank. Preoperative donation of one's own blood is possible prior to scheduled interventions.
Shoulder surgery
Shoulder surgery encompasses all established techniques, as far as endoprosthetic treatment:
- Reconstruction of tendons and muscles
- Stabilisation operations following shoulder luxations and acromioclavicular joint fractures
- Treatment of fractures
- Minimally invasive, arthroscopic procedures
- Widening of the Fornix humeri and acromioclavicular joint resections
- Revision operations
- State-of-the-art treatment facilities for post-operative treatment
Sports traumatology
Aside from general orthopaedics, the clinic for orthopaedics is specialised in the treatment of sports injuries in all age groups. Gentle surgical techniques enable rapid rehabilitation of our patients with the aim of quickly restoring them to their former active selves.
Treatment specialisations are:
- Knee joint surgery (meniscus and cruciate ligament operations, treatment of cartilage damage)
- Reconstructive shoulder surgery
- Joint preserving treatment with arthroscopic surgical techniques
- Ankle joint and elbow injuries
- Muscle and tendon injuries
- Reinstatement of sporting activities
