Haematology. Oncology. Treatment concepts
The most up to date procedures, established nursing methods, the very best quality.
New procedures to promote the well-being of patients
The Department of Haematology and Oncology in the Schön Klinik Starnberger See uses the very latest methods in tumour diagnostics and the treatment of cancer with medication. At the same time an experienced nursing team implements a specially developed care concept, which is aimed at the needs of our patients.
Our most frequently used treatment methods.
- Chemotherapy (monotherapy, polychemotherapy, in combination with the administration of antibodies)
- Autologous blood stem cell therapy after high dose chemotherapy (in the case of multiple myeloma, lymphomas or soft tissue sarcomas)
- Stem cell mobilisation and stem cell harvesting (Mobilisation as a combination of chemotherapy and G-CSF or G-CSF-mono)
- Monoclonal antibodies (for lymphomas and colon carcinoma)
- New medicaments (proteasome inhibitors, immune modulating substances, tyrosine kinase inhibitors,) in the case of certain haematological and solid neoplasias
- Supportive and palliative therapies
- Psychooncological care (if desired)
Therapeutic spectrum.
- All standard and high dose chemotherapies
- Combination therapies before and after surgery
- Supportive and pain-relieving measures
- Psychooncological care - if desired
Fresh stem cells for regeneration.
The Schön Klinik Starnberger See is the only non-university clinic in the region, which carries out stem cell transplants.
Chemotherapy can be better accompanied for the treatment of bone marrow cancer by a new method started and developed further by the Consultant Priv. Doz. Dr. med. Christian Straka at the Ludwig Maximilian University. With a stem cell transplant, the body receives its own healthy stem cells following a very high dose of chemotherapy for rebuilding damaged bone marrow.
Highly specialised and qualified care.
Besides the treatment itself, the Schön Klinik Starnberger See considers the care of tumour patients to be especially important. Our qualified nursing team is extremely sensitive and empathic in its day to day dealings with patients and their specific health problems. They are particularly experienced in their dealings with patients who have tumours, with chemotherapeutics, port systems, portable morphine pumps and many other items specific to this type of disease.
