The Schön Klinik has been committed to domestic and international aid projects for years, offering humanitarian aid to children from foreign countries and participating in campaigns to donate materials for aid. Our clinics support social associations and organisations with donations of money and materials.

The Schön Klinik Vogtareuth supports the International Children's Safety Service (ICSS) in its work to achieve improved medical and therapeutic care in Romania. As part of this collaboration, our staff provides training to physicians and therapists in the field of paediatric neurology.

Humanitarian aid for children

Kathrin Koller, a physiotherapist at the Schön Klinik Berchtesgadener Land, spent three months in Northern India working with disabled children as a volunteer. She was actively supported by the Clinic in her efforts to raise public awareness of the Ladakh Project by means of lectures and press articles. The hospital also donated the income from the Christmas market stands that are set up every year in the foyer of the clinic to this aid project for the disabled in Ladakh, northern India. When treating children from disaster areas, the Schön Klinik München Harlaching and the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth waive the treatment costs. A 16 year-old boy from Romania was referred through the charity organisation Children in Need to the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth in July 2006 with severe abnormal curvature of the spine, Prof. Dr. Wimmer, a consultant in the Spinal Surgery Clinic, straightened and strengthened the spine in two major surgeries lasting several hours. Thanks to the use of braces and intensive treatment after surgery, the boy recovered rapidly from the major surgeries. The clinic also took responsibility for free follow-ups.

Donations made by the Schön Kliniken

At the initiative of Prof. Dr. von Sommoggy, a consultant, the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth donated hospital beds and examination tables to the Albanian community of Liqenas. The assistance from Vogtareuth helped achieve a decisive improvement in what had previously been very poor medical care, particularly for children and adolescents. Furthermore, the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth organises regular transfers of crockery, beds, toys and medical equipment to Romanian clinics. The Schön Klinik München Schwabing and the Schön Klinik Starnberger See regularly donate hospital beds, medical equipment and laboratory consumables to the German Red Cross for their foreign aid work.
